Gov. Andrew Cuomo on Sunday blasted a Hasidic synagogue for hosting a secret maskless wedding with thousands of guests, saying the potential coronavirus super-spreader event was “a blatant disregard of the law” as he called on the de Blasio administration to investigate.
“It was a blatant disregard of the law. It’s illegal. It was also disrespectful to the people of New York,” Cuomo said during a press briefing at his Midtown office — prefacing the condemnation with a hedged “if that happened,” despite photos and videos showing the gathering.
“The law protects everybody. It protects you, but it also protects me,” he said.
Cuomo said that New York City “should do a robust investigation” of the Nov. 8 nuptials, and later noted that “from my information” the de Blasio administration is, in fact, investigating the matter.

Much as I do not believe that there was any major health risks involved (I was told that attendance was limited to those with antibodies) under the current circumstances that we are in this is the equivalent of going over to Cuomo (who I think is a major anti-Semite) and slapping him in the face.
You can give all the reasons you want about why it was all right to make such a wedding. I’m not disagreeing.But the potential damage it can cause to our kehila is indescribable. We are in golus.

He has no constitutional authority to decide who can leave their house & who cant based on their “zip codes” ie: religious association
He first needs to scientifically prove why this is more dangerous than protests, political gatherings, governors eating in restaurants without masks, distancing or antibodies. He definitely can’t prove that there is a higher percentage of people catching covid at a wedding than at the other events he allows.
That being said, I do agree it is a public chillul Hashem to disobey the law, even if goyim are not always listening. But until he can prove why this is more dangerous than the above activities, I don’t believe too many will take him seriously.
