carterFormer US President Jimmy Carter today asked for the Jewish community’s forgiveness for any negative stigma he may have caused Israel over the years. Carter, who is not a popular character in Israel, enraged the American Jewish community’s in the past with various statements made in his book “Palestine: Peace Not Apartheid.”

In the book, carter blamed Israel for impeding the Middle East peace process via settlement construction, further claiming such policy will lead to apartheid.

The former president also accused Israel of interfering with US efforts to broker peace in the region.

“We must recognize Israel’s achievements under difficult circumstances, even as we strive in a positive way to help Israel continue to improve its relations with its Arab populations, but we must not permit criticisms for improvement to stigmatize Israel.

“As I would have noted at Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur, but which is appropriate at any time of the year, I offer an Al Het for any words or deeds of mine that may have done so,” he said.

Head of the Anti-Defamation League Abraham Foxman welcomed Carter’s apology, saying it marked the beginning of reconciliation.

  1. What happened that everybody is apologizing for their misdeeds against Jews. First, the big Galech from Rome and now Carter? Do they smell Moshiach’s arrival imminently?

Let us all jump on the wagon and fervently do tshuva.

  2. I am not sure why all Jews hate him so much. He is the one that secured peace between Israel and Egypt. If not for him, Israel would have been destroyed long ago. Carter has been a tremendous help and staunch ally . Just because he gives constructive critisism, that does not make him an anti semite. I would be more concerned about the radical right wing and their agendas. Bush and his cronies have made Israel very unsafe, and they are responsible for a lot of the terror today. Lets keep things in perspective. Jimmy Carter was and always be a great friend of the Jews and Israel

  3. What is AL HET? That person has Jewish blood on his hands, he doesn’t stop being Mechazet the Arabs at every oppertunity. Additionally, contrary to what Abe Foxman did, we should NOT forgive him. We should publicly say “Mr. Carter, actions speak louder that words, we do NOT accept mere apologies for all of your hate!!!”

  4. Dov, this psycho spends his time writing pleas to sympathize with the Palestinian plight, and meets with terrorists. Even forgetting Israel, its a major bizayon for a past president to meet to talk with leaders of organizations classified by the U.S. as a terrorist organization -which is against U.S. policy!

  5. Sounds a little hollow no,has he given the proceeds from his factually inaccurate tissue of lies to charity?Has he apologised for being on the take for hundreds of millions of dollars from Arab donors in order for him to slam Israel? What a self righteous, disingenuous failure as President dope! Maybe he will kick the bucket soon!
