According to an Israeli political official, there are currently no substantial discussions regarding the extension of the ceasefire with Hamas beyond the 10 days outlined by the cabinet and approved by the government.

The source emphasized that if a concrete proposal arises, it will be brought up for discussion in both the cabinet and the government. However, as of now, no such proposal exists. The official, quoted by Arutz Sheva, stated firmly, “If there is a significant proposal – we will consider it. We will not allow a terrorist organization to mess around with us.”

The agreement, signed a week ago, initially included a four-day pause and an additional six days contingent on the daily release of ten hostages. The current discussions involve the head of the Mossad, who is in Qatar exploring the potential expansion of the agreement. This expansion may encompass the release of individuals over the age of 19, elderly fathers, and the return of bodies from captivity.

While Hamas aims to bring an end to the ongoing conflict, proposing this as part of a comprehensive deal, Israel remains steadfast in its refusal to entertain such possibilities. The government is united in its stance that the military operations in Gaza must persist.

Contrastingly, political sources suggest the potential for a significant deal that includes the release of terrorists imprisoned in Israel, some of whom have been incarcerated for many years.
