Chabad Family Immigrates To Israel From Odessa – And Celebrates Birth of 14th Child

Chana Gittel Yirish, a Chabad mother from Odessa, Ukraine, immigrated to Israel about three months ago together with her husband Shmuel and their 13 children.

This week, she went to the maternity ward at the Hillel Yaffe Medical Center to give birth to their 14th child. After giving birth to a healthy baby, she was hospitalized for observation and recovery in the maternity ward.

The 40-year-old mother gave birth at 38 weeks.

She immigrated to Israel from Berlin, where she fled following the war in Ukraine about three months ago when she was six months pregnant.

Chana Gittel was quickly brought into the delivery room, where midwife Naomi Cohen received her. Her healthy baby weighed 3.998 kg.

Two days later, accompanied by her husband, who was a teacher at the Chabad’s cheder in Odessa, Chana Gittel was released to her home with the new baby.

Yesterday, the bris was held and the baby was named Naftali.

  2. I have a humorous way of getting to say “Kein Ayin Hara”. First I say “Dog Dance”
    and of course I’m always asked “What’s that supposed to mean ?” I answer that
    “It means Canine Hora”, so then I’m asked, “But, also, what does THAT mean ?”.
    Finally, I answer “It means ‘Kein Ayin Hara’ ” !
