About 20 members of the radical Lev Tahor cult whose members dress like frum Jews overpowered guards and escaped a government shelter in Huixtla, in southern Mexico, where they had been held since one of their leaders, Menachem Endel Alter of Yerushalayim, was arrested last Friday on organized crime and human trafficking allegations, the Associated Press reports.
The Lev Tahor members – mostly children – pushed their way out of the complex last night, climbing over a guard from a private security company who had fallen to the ground. They then went into a waiting truck outside and headed toward Mexico’s border with Guatemala.
