Charish, a town south of Haifa with a growing Torah community, issued a tender for a new country club stipulating that whoever wins the franchise must undertake “to work and operate the place on Shabbos.”

“The fact that the Charish municipality is forcing the concessionaire to desecrate Shabbos is a disgrace,” said local attorney Michael Litvak, a legal advisor for the Betzalmo human rights group. “We will act in every legal way to cancel the tender.”

  1. Chareidim should win the tender and turn it into an active shul on Shabbos plus special “social” activities like Tehillim groups, shiurim and such.

  2. On the other hand:
Ramat Gan business fined for ‘Shema Yisrael’ sign
A store displaying a sign holding the famed Bible verse ‘Hear, O Israel’ was fined and ordered to remove it as a ‘hazard to the public’.
