Chazzan Helfgott to Sing at White House Menorah Lighting

helfgottChazzan Yitzchok Meir Helfgott will sing at the White House this evening as part of the annual menorah lighting ceremony in Washington, DC, Matzav.com has learned.

The ceremony will also include a performance by internationally known violinist Itzhak Perlman.

Jack Lew, director of the United States Office of Management and Budget and the Obama administration’s highest-ranking Jewish official, will light the menorah.

With his spellbinding voice and awesome talent, Cantor Helfgot continues to lead the way in today’s revival of chazzanus. Helfgot has been mesmerizing capacity audiences in concert halls around the world. A child prodigy, Helfgot recorded his first works at the age of eight and has davened in prominent shuls in Israel, Europe and the U.S. He is currently the chazzan at the Park East Synagogue in New York.
