British chess grandmaster Nigel Short said men are “hardwired” to be better at the game than women in an interview with New in Chess magazine, adding that society should “gracefully accept it as a fact.”

As an example, Short said he doesn’t begrudge his wife her higher emotional intelligence skills, and that she doesn’t mind asking him to “maneuver the car out of our narrow garage.”

Facing criticism from female chess players on Twitter, Short responded defensively: “Men and women do have different brains. This is a biological fact.” Read more at the Guardian.
