Chicago is getting ready to sue actor Jussie Smollett, who officials say has ignored the police department’s demand that he pay back the $130,000 in overtime cops worked while investigating his hoax hate-crime attack.
“Mr. Smollett has refused to reimburse the City of Chicago for the cost of police overtime spent investigating his false police report on January 29, 2019,” the Chicago Law Department said in a statement.
The city said a week ago that they would give Smollett one week to cough up a “money order or certified cashier’s check” for $130,106.15.
