Yerushalayim city councilor Yochanan Weitzman of Agudas Yisroel warned that the city’s failure to stop selling tickets on Shabbos and Yom Tov at the Biblical Zoo is a blatant violation of coalition agreements reached with Mayor Moshe Leon.

Noting a Ramat Gan recreation center has been operating without chillul Shabbos since last year, he said, “With good will on all sides, it is possible to find common ground that preserves the honor of Shabbos.”

Yisroel Beiteinu leader Avigdor Lieberman slammed Weitzman’s demand, saying, “This is a brutal and forceful chareidi attempt to turn Israel from a Jewish state to a halachic state.”

  1. Mr. Lieberman:

What about the phrase “status quo” don’t you understand? The country to which you came had its own way before you arrived. If you wanted a religious-bereft state to call home, you could have stayed where you were.

  2. I see the rasha Lieberman is a one card monte. Does the Russian drunk ever have something else to say? He’s burying his political future. So at least that’s good.

  3. I’m a little surprised at Lieberman. I met him once and he seemed so rational and pleasant and certainly not antagonistic toward me or the 3 other Chareidim who were present. The Likud seemed to feel that way about him to a degree – what has changed within him? He’s so antagonistic now!
