Good luck talking about Nelson Mandela without mentioning democracy. The Chinese government on Tuesday issued censorship orders to media ahead of Mandela’s funeral prohibiting mentions of self-government or human rights.
“All posts and comments on Weibo and blogs that take advantage of the funeral of Mandela to attack our political systems and state leaders must be deleted immediately,” the order said. Also banned: anything about the Dalai Lama, Tibet, or Taiwan. Read more at South China Morning Post.
