China: iPhones Are a Security Threat

apple-iphoneChinese state media on Friday deemed the iPhone to be a risk to national security. A report on CCTV attacked the iPhone’s “Frequent Locations” function, which allows tracking of users.

According to the report, the data could uncover the country’s economic details and “even state secrets.”

An official said the company’s databases were a “gold mine” and suggested data-protection laws needed to be tightened up, while Apple would need to “take on any legal responsibilities” if data leaks caused harm.
