China Lifts 10-Week Lockdown On Wuhan After No New Deaths Reported For First Time In Former Epicenter

After weeks of eerily quiet streets, empty schools and shuttered shops, China has lifted its national lockdown on the city of Wuhan, the former epicentre of the COVID-19 pandemic.

As Italy, U.S. and Spain also begin to report signs of the virus’s impact easing in their countries, there are tentative hopes that the pandemic might finally be slowing down after a tumultuous three months.

As of Wednesday midnight (China Standard Time), China has lifted its lockdown on Wuhan, a day after the city reported no coronavirus deaths for the first time since the pandemic began.
