A mother from Beitar Illit and three of her children were hospitalized at Shaarei Tzedek Medical Center in mild condition after finding powder in two packages mailed from China’s Ali Express website.
Police temporarily cordoned off the street where they live.
The suspicious powder was identified as magnesium carbonate used to prevent and treat low amounts of magnesium in the blood. In some people, ingestion of the substance might cause stomach upset, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and other side effects.
