Chris Christie, the former Governor of New Jersey and Republican contender for the US presidency, paid a visit to Kfar Aza, a community in the Gaza envelope that was profoundly affected by the October 7th massacre orchestrated by Hamas.
Expressing his support, Christie emphasized the importance of Israel’s right to defend itself in the face of perceived threats. He stated, “We can’t ask Israel to stand down if they believe there is still a legitimate violent threat against them and their people. And I think there is no question that there is. And so they must continue to fight until they have degraded that capability to a point where they can say to their people, come back and live here safely and securely. Until that comes, I don’t think calls for a ceasefire make any sense.”
Knesset Speaker Amir Ohana accompanied him during the tour.
Christie conveyed solidarity from the American people to Israel, declaring, “I want the people of Israel to know that there are hundreds of millions of Americans who stand with them, who understand the atrocities that were committed.
Following their visit to Kfar Aza, Christie and Ohana proceeded to the Tzrifin military base. There, they were briefed on the weaponry used by terrorists during the massacre. The IDF’s Spokesperson’s unedited footage of the incident was also presented to the former governor.
