The historic Churvah Shul in the Old City of Yerushalayim has been rebuilt after nearly a decade of construction and will be rededicated this evening. The shul was destroyed by Jordan’s Arab Legion on May 25, 1948.
The festivities kicked off yesterday with a Hachnosas Sefer Torah welcoming a Sefer Torah to the shul, which was first built in 1701 and has been destroyed and rebuilt twice.
The rededication comes as security measures in the Old City and elsewhere in east Jerusalem are at a peak.
Palestinian clerics are calling the renovation of the Churvah a “provocation” and warned Israel that it was “playing with fire.”
Israel Police Insp.-Gen. David Cohen warned that incitement to violence by Palestinian elements could inflame an already tense situation in the capital.
More than 3,000 security personnel have been deployed in the Old City and throughout east Jerusalem since Friday, and police announced that this would continue through Tuesday. Also, only Muslim men above the age of 50 and women of any age would be permitted into the Har Habayis compound.

If we are biachdus the goyim have no shlita on us. it says that even if klal yisroel are not behaving, ben udom lamukoim, but are getting along with one another ben udom lachaveiro, all our enemies turn to dust, like the meisah of sancherev where the entire army just didnt wake up the next morning. The obama goverment which is ruled by over a minyan of self hating jews and the muslim president whom by the way the arabs hate too. well his koiach and arrogance against us yiden is only a result of our disunity, so lets unite and also show our president maybe even through emails and phone calls, lets tell him that his disrespect and one sided treatment of us and our brothers and sisters in eretz yisroel, wont be tolerated. and our mistreatment with the churva shul being desecrated back in 1948, amongst a host of many other of our holy sights and therefore the current renovation is a symbol of joy for every jew and no we dont have to give answers to our president over this, he doesnt like it then he could move back to his country of birth which in all likelyness is probably kenya, especially since he wont disprove this.
The arabs are concerned about a comment attributed the the Vilna Goan that Moshiach will arrive when the Churva shul is rebuilt, or is it has been reported.
