A new CIA recruitment video is being slammed on social media for being too “woke.”
The video, little more than 2 minutes long, focuses on a 36-year-old Latina CIA officer named Mija.
“My employment was not, and is not, the result of a fluke or slip through the cracks,” Mija says in the video. “I earned my way in, and I earned my way up the ranks of this organization.”
Text accompanying the video when it was posted read:
“I am unapologetically me. I want you to be unapologetically you, whoever you are. Whether you work at #CIA, or anywhere else in the world. Command your space. Mija, you are worth it.”
Mija says she suffered from “imposter syndrome” but she refuses to “internalize misguided patriarchal ideas of what a woman can or should be.”
Critics have not held back.
Aisha Ahmad, a PhD candidate tweeted:
“Actual quotes from this new CIA recruitment ad:
‘I am a woman of color’
‘I am a cisgender millennial’
‘I have been diagnosed with generalized anxiety disorder’
‘I am intersectional’
I think it’s safe to say the contemporary American left has failed.”
Dinesh D’Souza, author, filmmaker, and host of the Dinesh D’Souza Podcast, tweeted:
“The CIA just released a recruitment video full of woke propaganda and America’s enemies are laughing their heads off. @CIA”
