The city wants to turn streetlights into high-speed public Wi-Fi hotspots as part of a plan to boost Internet access across all five boroughs, sources told The Post.

The concept is similar to LinkNYC — the free Wi-Fi and phone-charging kiosks that replaced phone booths around the city. The city has more than 250,000 streetlights across the five boroughs.

The service would be part of Mayor de Blasio’s push for every city resident and business to have “affordable, reliable, high-speed” Internet service by 2025.
