Rep. Thomas Garrett, R-Va., announced Monday that he is struggling with alcoholism and will abandon his run for a second term in Congress so he can focus on recovery and his family.

Garrett, a member of the conservative Freedom Caucus, is the 48th Republican to retire or announce they will not seek reelection to the House this year, according to a list maintained by the House Press Gallery.

  1. The democrats are worse than rats. Did you know how these immoral democrats had a mixed gender bathroom at their sick convention.

  2. I sincerely say this: he must be a gifted individual to have won office in that state of mind. So few make it there and he did despite of his challenges. Plus, he’s taking responsibility. I’d actually vote for him if he decides to run again after being sober for one year.
