Mercaz Olami, the Zionist arm of Masorti-Conservative Judaism in the United States, Europe, Latin America, Asia, Africa and Australia published a statement today calling on presumptive prime minister Bibi Netanyahu not to appoint Itamar Ben-Gvir as minister in the upcoming government, the Jerusalem Post reports.

The movement said in a statement that it “reaffirms its commitment to the essential values of Zionism and Israel as a Jewish and democratic state,” and that they are “proud of Israel as a vibrant democracy. We also applaud the fact that all sides accept the results of the election.”

The movement added that they “affirm our unshakable support for the State of Israel,” however, “in light of the basic values stated in the Declaration of Independence of the State of Israel, we respond to the election results with great concern.”

  1. Let them mind their own business. Ben Gvir represents a big chunk of the Israeli voters and he’s a legitimate partner in the upcoming government

  2. They shouldn’t make him minister but Prime Minister. He’s the real deal that a Jewish country needs, not a weakling coward who’d fall for money like they all do, even to inject their students with dangerous injections to get financial assistance.

  3. No problem, we won’t make Gvir a minister if your entire movement doesn’t make into a minister (ordain) any candidate who doesn’t unequivocally accept Torah Shebechasav and Baal Peh.

  4. Where were they when the previous government placed anti-Jewish people in ministry posts who attempted to remove any vestige of Judiasm from the country? Ben-Gvir’s party is the third largest in the Knesset. The people have spoken. The majority of Israelis WANT to live in a JEWISH state, with all that it entails.

  5. First of all it’s not their business to dictate to Israel who should be part of their government. Chutzpah.

Did anyone hear them protest the inclusion of Ra’am in the previous government?
