Conservative Movement To Allow Membership To Non-Jews?

The Conservative movement may be poised to open its doors to non-Jewish members, with a formal vote on the issue expected in March, JTA reports.

Confronted by the growing level of intermarriage in the American Jewish community at large and in many Conservative congregations across the country, Conservative movement members will be voting on a measure from their umbrella body that would allow congregations to admit non-Jews as members.

JTA reports that the United Synagogue of Conservative Judaism’s Standards for Congregational currently Practice restrict synagogue membership to Jews. But the new language, which congregations will vote on in March, would allow individual congregations to decide whether to grant membership to non-Jews.

The official description of the new by-law, as provided by JTA, says, “We celebrate the diversity among and within our kehillot and encourage the engagement of all those who seek a spiritual and communal home in an authentic and dynamic Jewish setting. We call on all of our kehillot to open their doors wide to all who want to enter.”

  1. So it goes. Conservative becomes Reform, Reform becomes oisvorf.

    And Open Orthodoxy becomes Conservative.

    Netzach Yisroel lo yishaker,

  2. So, besides the congregation’s, the president’s, and the clergyman’s income, what exactly will this movement be “conserving”?
One great rov said some 30 years ago that he really feels bad for the Conservative Yidden. While the Orthodox have many challenges in this world, they earn The Olam Habaah. The Reform gave up on Olam Habaah long ago, but they seem to enjoy their Olam Hazeh to the fullest.
The Conservative know that they are destined for Gehinom, yet still have certain restrictions, while alive, and feel bad transgressing them. Apparently, now they are joining the Reform, under a different bank account.

    • RACHMANA LITZLAN – LORD FORBID TO SAY THAT!!!!!!!!!!!

Now, a non-Jewish person who (was interested in Judaism but) had his or her conversion done by a Conservative or Reform panel, that “converson,” understandably, can only be a conversion to what the people of that panel who did it are adherants of — which is Conservative or Reform DISTORTED Judaism. But in no way can it be termed a conversion to real authentic Judaism. So in reality, this man or woman is still not Jewish (until he or she gets a converson to authentic Judaism performed by people who are adherants of authentic Judaism), and any children that the woman gives birth to are not Jewish (until they get a converson to authentic Judaism performed by people who are adherants of authentic Judaism).

Also, if a Jewish man — very tragically — unites with a non-Jewish woman, all the children that he fathers with her are not Jewish (until they get a converson to authentic Judaism performed by people who are adherants of authentic Judaism).

However, all JEWISH people, even if they are members or/and directors of Conservative or Reform congregations and follow those systems — THEY ABSOLUTELY ARE JEWS!!!!!!!!!!

      I ABSOLUTELY MUST REPEAT THAT:

      THEY ABSOLUTELY ARE JEWS!!!!!!!!!!

    • (Continuation of my remark)

Of course, it is very sad that they have become involved in these false programs, and we are absolutely obligated to go to try to show them the true ways of our Torah HaKdosha.

  3. Why dont they take a vote if they want to bow the statue if J…. or Mar. After all intermarriage is there and if one spouse wants to do it …Ahem… Lets also have palm sunday etc etc

  4. Why dont they take a vote if they want to bow the statue if J… or Mar. After all intermarriage is there and if one spouse wants to do it …Ahem… Lets also have palm sunday etc

  5. Why dont they take a vote if they want to bow the statue if J… or Mary. After all intermarriage is rampant and you have to be tolerant and if one spouse wants to do it …Ahem… Lets also have palm sunday etc

  6. Just curious to know when they think they became the owners of the Tora? They used to get upset when we invalidated there conversions and they would claim that these people are better Jews than us I wonder what the new line
    Is going to be

    • Every yid owns the Torah which consists of written and oral llaw given to moishe rabbeinu on mt sini, which is codified in the 4 parts of shulchen urech. What these movments say that its not relevant anymore . just do what make sense or comfortable with.

So lemaise they do their own thing not the ‘torah thing.

HalachaMes Sanhedrin and S’U: one who believes kol hatorah misini except ONE mitzvah is a heretic kol shken when he koifer torah misini or parts

  7. Quote of their planned new policy: “We . . . . encourage the engagement of all those who seek a spiritual and communal home in an authentic and dynamic Jewish setting . . . . ” Of course, extremely tragically, what they are offering is very much NOT an “authentic” “Jewish” setting! So even if some of their programs MAY APPEAR to be “dynamic,” as they are presenting pictures that are not true, whatever stimulation they may have will rapidly dissipate. With their — again, very tragic — terrible distortions of what in reality IS “authentic” Judaism, what they will be offering non-Jews who come their way will be a gigantic Chillul Hashem.

  8. It’s business. They are losing membership big time. Conservative used to be the largest followed by reform. Now the reform are ahead of the conservative. In many places the conservative merge their temples due to declining membership. Even in boro park the little reform temple took in a large conservative temples members as they sold their building. Soon only authentic Judaism will remain and will rule here and in Israel.

  9. Conservative synagogues already accept non – Jewish spouses and have for years.. But if I read this right. They want to open their membership to anyone…period. If they don’t want to come to the ball park, you can’t stop em.
