cantaloupesSupermarkets are recalling cantaloupes from a North Carolina farm because the fruit may contain listeria monocytogenes.

Listeria has the potential to cause serious illness, however, no illnesses have been associated with this recall, according to Burch Farms Athena cantaloupes.

The product has been removed from many supermarkets.

Athena cantaloupes, a variety grown in the southeastern United States, are a whole cantaloupe produce item.

If stickered, the label on the item will reference Burch Farms and read: “Cantaloupe PLU 4319.”

Supermarkets are advising customers not to eat these cantaloupes, and either return them to stores or dispose of them and return the sticker for a full refund.

No other products are affected by the recall.

We are told that supermarkets in Brooklyn and the Catskills are among hundreds of stores nationwide to have carried the contaminated produce.

What does this mean? I can’t figure it out.

So what you’re saying is that it’s better that they don’t inform the public at all because some people may have eaten it already.
So, maybe they’re informing the public either so those who haven’t eaten them are aware of the possible contamination OR so that in case someone who ate the cantaloupe is experiencing weird symptoms can know to what they can be attributed.
A little thank you would be more appropriate than your sarcasm, and if you can’t do that, better say nothing.
