A storm of controversy is swirling following the publication of footage from the wedding of a son of Rav Shalom Ber Sorotzkin, rosh yeshiva of Yeshivas Ateres Shlomo, last night.
The video, originally broadcast by Sparks of a Nation, shows the rosh yeshiva leading thousands of his talmidim in singing the Neturei Karta anthem, igniting fierce political backlash.
In response, MK Vladimir Beliak of the Yesh Atid party has called on the Ministries of Welfare and Education to revoke government funding for the yeshiva.
Beliak has also escalated his efforts by appealing to Tax Authority Director Shay Aharonovich to revoke the yeshiva‘s tax-exempt status under Section 46 of the Income Tax Ordinance, which grants tax benefits to donors supporting recognized public institutions.
In a letter to the government ministries, Beliak wrote: “It is inconceivable that public funds should be used to support an institution that promotes such dangerous principles. Therefore, I request the immediate revocation of all grants and financial support received by the Ateres Shlomo Yeshiva network in Israel.”
In his letter to the Tax Authority, he further demanded: “I request the immediate revocation of this institution’s approval for tax-deductible donations under Section 46 of the Income Tax Ordinance.”
The controversy has sparked intense reactions across the political spectrum. MK Matan Kahana of the National Unity party denounced the video, writing: “As you watch this footage of thousands of chareidim singing about rejecting the state and refusing to report to the draft office, remember that the government allocates over 50 million shekels specifically to the yeshivos where these individuals study—50,000,000 NIS! …Meanwhile, 400,000 emergency draft notices are prepared to be sent to reservists for their fourth and fifth rounds of service, yet [Finance Minister Bezalel] Smotrich still refuses to dismantle the political alliance with those dancing and singing in this video, continuing to fund them with billions.”
In a rare move, the Religious Zionist Party, led by Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich, issued a terse response to the video, stating simply: “Busha v’cherpa – A disgrace and a shame.”

No kalla? It must be very lonely being married to oneself.
Most of Today’s Charedi are not like previous generations, almost all take from the mInim….of course understanding the Minim take from them ( bituach Leumi as a head / Tax / Jizna [working or not]… also… Arnona, V.A.T., any income is taxed, and various fees….
So living 87+ years under the ( mostly) Jewish version of Ottomans, people think they should get something OUT of the mess. Of Course Hashem has other plans.
BTW the NK are under Cherem from the Satmar Beit Din, so if these guys had ANY respect for Satmar and their Leaders, they would not sing NK songs.
P.S. MAZEL TOV to the young couple….this was a wedding after all. 🙂 🙂

So, for those who still believe that the “Religious Zionist” idolaters are our friends, there you see once again their actual loyalties – to Zionism not Judaism.
Let’s be very clear, the Jews begged the Zionists not to invade and, when the Zionists refused to listen, the Jews begged the Zionists to stop making problems with their militancy and ruining their peaceful life they had in then-Palestine over a century ago before the Zionists invaded.
The Zionists ruined the life there for Jews, and then on top of that want to now further destroy their lives by shmading the Jews in the Zionist army, converting them from Judaism to Zionism.
Peaceful life? When they tried to move out of the crowded old city, and were attacked by Arabs way back in the 1800’s? Don’t make things up.
the Zionists will never scare us, we survived the Nazis, the communists Siberia, we will survive this shmad of Zionism as well.
The shmad of NK making common cause with murderers
neturei karta anthem ??
earth to matzav and all chareidi lite chatzi zionists
this has been sung for 30 yrs or more at every other yeshiva gathering in eretz ysrel
I’ve experienced these elevated moments first hand
Way more than that! My dad told me that Rav Elya Lopian used to lead them at rallies in the 60s with these songs!
What are people thinking ? You publicly pick a fight with them and they are still going to give you money?
This is hasgarus be’umos on steroids!
Another excuse to attack the frumma.
Did they make this excuse up or was it handed it to them on a silver platter?
Draft or deportation for these ingrates.
But yet you have no problem with the drugged out chilonim littering the streets of Tel Aviv.
Deport all Michallaei shabbos and all anti yiddishkeity טמאים, and Mr. Tel aviv too
“Busha v’cherpa?”
No-
LKADEISH SHEM SHOMAYIM!!!!!
What Shmad, in 2,000 years there has never been so much Torah learning in Eretz Yisroel
On the same block as stores selling pig, open on shabbos.
That song originated when degel hatorah was formed, nothing to do with neturei karta.
Where is DOGE?
I guess not a takona chasana
Was thinking the same thing, but I don’t see any food. Is there a new minhag to fast by a chassuna.
This biggest irony of this song is that it ends with the words LKADEISH SHEM SHOMAYIM!!!!!. Did any Kiddush Shem Shoyim ever coming out of singing this song? Did it ever bring anyone closer to Torah? It only drives people away!
