Following an investigation of the incident last Saturday in which Ethiopian-Israeli teen Solomon Tekah was shot to death, the Department for the Investigation of Police (DIP) is considering charging the policeman who shot Tekah with a disciplinary offense rather than a criminal offense, according to a Channel 13 News report.

Reports have suggested that evidence and testimony collected as part of the investigation being conducted by the Police Internal Investigations Department corroborate the officer’s claim that he did not aim directly at 19-year-old Tekah when he open fired, but rather at the ground which caused the bullet to ricochet and fatally strike the young man.

The officer was off-duty at the time of the June 30 incident near Haifa and said he happened upon a street brawl which he attempted to disperse. After identifying himself, the officer says he was set upon by three youths who hurled stones at him, endangering his life, at which point he discharged his weapon.

The fatal shooting revived accusations of police brutality and systematic discrimination against Israel’s sizeable Ethiopian community, sparking three days of angry protests across the country marred by incidents of violence and vandalism.

  1. These cops, with the support of the self-appointed-judges-for-life, assume they can do whatever they want and not held accountable for it.

    • According to eye-witnesses, absolutely nothing. But the judges are not interested in the truth but would rather believe the bogus concocted story from the police which was posted in all fake news because, after all, Ethiopians are considered 2nd class.

  2. In Israel I was recently falsely accused and arrested for the accusation that when I pulled into a parking lot to drop off a friend, they said I switched places with my son who was in the passenger seat.
The police man was a disgusting liar, so was his comrades and chief.
They also hate the religious Jews.
If there is one thing that needs to be fixed in Israel is the ridiculous abuse of rights the police or משטרע in Israel.
