  1. Just to be 100 percent fair the size of Israel is 26 times larger than NYC,with roughly the same population size, so it’s not the greatest equivalent.

  2. Israel is 8,550 Square Miles. It has a population of 9.1 Million. That gives an area of .0009 square mile per person. NYC is 302 square miles. It has a population of 8.7 Million. That gives an area of .00003 square mile per person.
Lets be real. NYC is way more compact than Israel. Not a fair comparison.

  3. Population density is seemingly the main component of spreading of contagious disease. As such, this comparison is like contrasting apples to oranges.

  4. Not a fair comparison. NYC is most probably the densest population on earth. Israel is spread out more even though there are some density.
    Apples and oranges. Sorry

    • True but the populated are in EY are populated densely. Meah Shearim and Bnei Brak are not less populated than Boro Park and Flatbush

  5. 2 things to notice
    1. we now know that millions of new yorkers had covid in some form , but testing was not avail.
    2. if you take the positive test numbers as real why is the ratio of deaths to positives in ny is about 1/13 and in isreal 1/ 60+
thats not a social distance question because we are discussing of those that tested positive ny death rate was approx 5x as great what do u make of it?

  6. Sorry but that’s just a nonsensical comparison. NYC is a city. Israel is a whole country. Why don’t you include figures for total area, and people per square mile?

While yes the numbers are impressive they are simply skewed.

  7. ארץ אשר עיני ה’ אלוקיך בה, מראשית השנה עד אחרית שנה
That’s the main reason. The other reason is that the Israeli government enforced many restrictions earlier than the US, slowing things down when there were fewer people infected.

  8. One may want to compare NYC to Singapore or Hong Kong.
Sadly, in the USA everyone is convinced they know better that the medical professionals.

  9. You can do the same comparison with New Jersey, which has roughly the same population AND size, and you’ll still see Israel being ahead….

And though Israel is much larger, take into account that most of the population lives in very concentrated population centers… the miles and miles of desert and mountains aren’t really “counted”.

There is something to be said for quarantining incoming travelers and people who were exposed (which NYC didn’t adopt, and Israel did right away) and closing schools etc almost a week earlier. There’s also the Israeli motivation to help people get better at any age and almost any cost, while NY hospitals can definitely have an overall more complacent attitude of senior citizens getting sick and dying….

Overall, agree with the last anonymous poster, don’t forget:
ארץ אשר עיני ה’ אלוקיך בה, מראשית השנה עד אחרית שנה

  10. although israel has a larger overall area, most of it is unpopulated. the areas that are populated are by and large densely populated.

  11. What a shame. Some posters presumably frum trying to belittle Eretz Yisrael with stats. Unbelievable. It’s a miracle but you nonbelievers will always find negative.
