COVID-19 infections are rising among Israelis despite the country’s strict new lockdown order, according to a report by Hebrew University, though an extension is necessary to have an impact.

The Jerusalem Post reported on figures presented Wednesday to Israel’s coronavirus cabinet by professors from the Racah Institute of Physics and The Hebrew University-Hadassah Braun School of Public Health and Community Medicine.

They said the R number (the average number of people each infected person will go on to infect) has not slowed though is expected to drop in the coming weeks.

  1. What lockdown exactly? Please dont insult my intelligence, people are going out and about many without masks, People are visiting each other as before. The streets are full. The roads are open and there is traffic (often standstill) The “fines” are a joke. There is much social pressure to ignore the rules. Rule breakers are heros (reference the many demonstrations, tishes, packed shules, Uman…). Rule followers are mocked. Olam Hafuch.

    • You’re right. In Tel Aviv there’s 10% less traffic than usual. Maybe this is what they mean by lockdown. It’s the same lies as “more coronavirus cases” which are popping up like mushrooms. Motzei Rosh Hashanah they had over 7,000 cases and Motzei Yom Kippur over 5,000 cases. When did they test? And how is it that they got results so fast?
People sign in to take the test and then leave when lines are too long. And yet they are called that they were tested positive. While the names of those who signed in are kept, blood tests are discarded. Not necessary. It’s these “honest” Health Dept who decide how many positive cases should be per day. Nothing to do with blood tests. This phenomenon is all over the world.

  2. Israelis across the board are sick and tired of this lunacy. Professors are coming out and saying the government should stop the lockdowns because they don’t help anyway. Nobody buys this craziness anymore and if you think it’s only the charedim because that’s what the press decides it’s in its own interests to show, I’ve got a bridge I’d love to sell you.
