Israel’s Defense Minister Naftali Bennett said during a press conference on the coronavirus outbreak Wednesday that the country should expect to see “a wave of severe morbidity coming,” within 10 days time.
“It [COVID-19] is at the shore of Israel, so to speak, and we expect that within 10 days time we will see a massive increase of severe patients, we can work to change the situation,” Bennett said.
The minister stressed the importance of protecting the elderly from the pandemic and said Israel is doing the best job out of any other country to protect the older population.
“We have set up a crisis cell with all the Israeli institutions, led by the Mossad and the Defense and Health ministries,” he maintained. “I can tell you today that we are working very hard.”
