Sen. Ted Cruz said he will renounce his Canadian citizenship in a statement Monday after a newspaper pointed out that he may still be a dual citizen. According to legal experts, Cruz is technically a citizen of Canada, since he was born there. Perhaps it’s because Cruz may be running for president in 2016 that he wanted to clear the air-even after his spokesman denied the claim.
“Now The Dallas Morning News says that I may technically have dual citizenship,” he said. “Assuming that is true, then sure, I will renounce any Canadian citizenship.” Read more at ABC News.
