Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah expressed deep gratitude to those who supported his family on Tuesday as he concluded the mourning period for his mother, Mahdiyya Safi al-Din. Despite showing a rare moment of vulnerability, Nasrallah soon reverted to his usual rhetoric, comparing Israel to the Nazi regime in Germany, stating: “I see no future for this Nazi regime in the region.”

Nasrallah claimed that Israel’s alleged attacks on refugee tents in Rafah, Gaza, over the weekend would accelerate its downfall. “The occupying regime … lacks conscience or moral principles and it is worse than the Nazis,” he asserted.

In a brief speech, Nasrallah thanked those who had supported him and his family, wiping away tears as he spoke. “I appreciate your presence and thank you,” he began. “I apologize for not being available and not even answering calls. What you have done is very important to us. I was absent due to circumstances you are all aware of.” The ‘circumstances’ he referred to involve Hezbollah’s ongoing rocket and drone attacks on northern Israel, causing the evacuation of tens of thousands of residents.

According to media reports, Nasrallah’s mother passed away last Shabbos after a “serious illness.” For security reasons and to maintain anonymity, Nasrallah did not join his family during the mourning period nor meet those who came to offer condolences.

During his speech, Nasrallah listed the countries from which he received condolences, including Syria, Iraq, Iran, Pakistan, India, Turkey, Yemen, Bahrain, Jordan, and Egypt. He also expressed his gratitude to his colleagues in the Hezbollah leadership and the Amal movement – where his brother holds a senior position – for “being by his father’s side from the first moment and receiving condolences for hours.”

Nasrallah described his mother as a “caring, patient, quiet and modest woman.” He mentioned that his son Hadi, a Hezbollah member who was killed in 1997 during Operation “Wild Landscape,” was her first grandchild. Nasrallah noted the strong bond between Hadi and his grandmother and how his death had profoundly affected her. Nasrallah’s voice choked with emotion as he spoke about their relationship, revealing his struggle with his mother’s death and past family tragedies. Following his speech, Hezbollah’s Lebanese channel, Al-Manar, broadcast rare footage of Nasrallah outside his bunker, visiting his mother in the hospital.

  1. Crocodiles cry too! He never shed a tear as did all the mothers of the children whose death he caused. Hopefully he joins her really soon!

  2. He happens to be right that, of course, there is no future for the Zionist regime; as they continue to attack Torah, they hasten their own self-destruction.
