Several frum fans protested at Monday’s Brooklyn Nets game when Kyrie Irving returned to the court after promoting an anti-Semitic film titled Hebrews to Negroes: Wake Up Black America.

A group of seven Orthodox Jewish fans sat courtside, wearing “FIGHT ANTISEMITISM” shirts.

One protester told The New York Post that Irving said he “appreciated” them, sarcastically.

“I was expecting that. Look at who you’re dealing with,” protestor Aaron Jungreis said. “But [the shirt] was really not for him. It was really for the Nets. They should not keep a guy like that around,” Jungreis told the Post.

The Nets haven’t taken disciplinary action against Irving, who has also mired himself in controversy with his anti-vax stance, although team owner Joe Tsai said he’s “disappointed” in Irving for promoting the film. Irving deleted a tweet promoting the film Sunday after he said “I can post whatever I want” the day before. Read more at the New York Post.

    • They’re not Orthodox Jewish but orthodox against anti-Semitism, like using the word ‘kosher’ to say it’s fit, satisfactory, even if it’s not halachically kosher.

    • Yes. And for all we know the jean-wearer is terrific in shmiros halashon whereby she would never put you or anyone else down. R Eli Stefansky said his favorite gmara is תחתונים למעלה and it would be wise to emulate R Eli and treat every Yid with utmost respect. (Of course excluding proven רשעים)

      • Wow! So now תחתונים למעלה is used to demand respect for public פריצות! What’s next, should we respect toeiva activists for their shmiras halashon and “tikun olam”?!

    • The label was inaccurate; it should have read “Modern Orthodox”.

“Modern Orthodoxy” is essentially neo-Conservatism with a strong dose of Zionist idolatry.

  1. Obviously Kyrie Irving is an anti-semite. I’m not sure that wearing a fight anti-semitism T-Shirt in front of him would sway his beliefs in any way. It’s kind of like putting a juicy steak in front of a lion, and holding up a sign stating “Meat eating = Cruelty”. In terms of sending a message to the Nets organization, these are the most expensive seats in the Arena so they actually made money off this. A more effective approach may be to have a large contingency of Jews boycotting Nets games until Kyrie is off the team.

    • The problem with that, is that half of the investors in the Barclay Center and NJ Nets are Frum Yidden. They all received free lifetime passes for these games. Now, these so-called Frum investors would never say a word of protest to management. Business is business. Fellow Jews can be pushed to the side. The ikar is, how much profit will I be making this fiscal year? I’ve got car payments on my worthless show-off car Tesla.

  2. Stupid spoiled brats rich kids! These little immature pleasure seeking punks made a terrible Chillul Hashem! No daas Torah. Pheh!

  3. These people are not much different in grandiose breed than the nice stomping buck kids who super glue their hands to walls in museums. It’s a statement. The adults will mean better.
