New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo says that the rising numbers in U.S. coronavirus death projections are part of the “cost of reopening quickly.”

During his daily press conference on Tuesday, Cuomo noted that models, including one from the Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation (IHME) at the University of Washington, which is cited by the White House, have revised their death totals upward to reflect the easing of physical distancing in states that are reopening.

The IHME on Monday doubled its U.S. fatality projections, saying more than 134,000 people will die from COVID-19 by August.

“There’s a cost of staying closed. There’s also a cost of reopening quickly. That is the hard truth that we are all dealing with, and let’s be honest about it, and let’s be open about it,” Cuomo said.

  1. Cuomo is a liar.
He has no evidence to support his allegation.
He has bankrupted our state, taxed corporations into fleeing, and released criminals unto our streets and neighborhoods.
All young couples are moving out of NY as soon as they can.

  2. Dummy. People don’t die after one day of reopening their state. I think it would take a little more time to see see the effects of reopening. At least a week or two.

  3. Death estimates rising because mass arrests have begun last week in the US with political criminals on the 200,000-or-so Federal Criminal Indictment List.
