Gov. Andrew Cuomo returned to Ramapo today for the second time in a month to announce $680,000 in funding for license plate readers to enhance security in New Square and Monsey following multiple attacks.

The high-speed cameras in these devices — known as LPRs — can be installed in multiple locations and will capture time-stamped images of the license plates from vehicles entering those communities.

“If anybody thinks about attacking the community, they better think again,” Cuomo said during a press conference at Ramapo Town Hall. “We will know. We will find you. We will prosecute you to the fullest extent of the law.”
