With New Year’s Eve less than a week away, Dr. Anthony Fauci has advised revelers to skip their parties as the country struggles to curb the spread of Omicron. On Monday, he told CNN’s New Day that even for those who are vaccinated and boosted, it’s best to keep the confetti and champagne toasts limited to small, family gatherings, indicating that mass, public events are likely to exacerbate the spread of COVID.

“When you are talking about a New Year’s Eve party, where you have 30, 40, 50 people celebrating, you do not know the status of the vaccination—I would recommend strongly, stay away from that this year,” he said. “There will be other years to do that, but not this year.” Read more at New Day.

  1. So when exactly is nittel nacht this year? The 25th was a Shabbos so was it a nidcha? Now Jan 1 is also a Shabbos. So when are we NOT allowed to learn? I don’t want to chas vishalom learn when I’m not allowed to. There is a 3rd shita as well. Please advise.

  2. Good we do not need these to’eivah event.

Also you must study all week from the 24th (which already passed) til Jan 1st. Remember the words Rav Yisrael Salanter ztl which the Chofetz Chaim heard when he was in a hotel; for hours he heard the Rav saying one who does not learn Torah have no share in the World to Come
