gemara-learningLomdei Daf Hayomi worldwide are beginning Maseches Eruchin today, having wrapped up Maseches Bechoros yesterday. The learners of Daf Yomi are making their way ever closer to the next Siyum Hashas, which will take place, iy”H, on August 1, 2012, just a few days after Tisha B’Av.

With 2,711 pages in the Gemara, one cycle of Daf Yomi takes about 7 years, 5 months.

Daf Yomi started its current, 12th cycle on March 2, 2005.

Maseches Eruchin is the fifth mesechta in Seder Kodshim.

As first reported here on Matzav.com, two months ago askanim and community leaders gathered at MetLife Stadium in Rutherford, New Jersey, to sign the contract for the 12th Siyum Hashas of Daf Yomi to be held at the stadium on Wednesday, 13 Av 5772/August 1, 2012, this summer.

With 92,000 seats, the recently constructed stadium is by far the largest single venue ever to host the national Torah gathering.

Agudath Israel executive vice president for finance and administration Rabbi Shlomo Gertzulin, together with a committee of dedicated baalei batim, is overseeing the Siyum preparations.

  1. There is no Massechta called ERUCHIN!
Gramatically it should be pronounced AROCHIN, although it is commonly (mis)pronounced ERCHIN
