gemara-learningLomdei Daf Hayomi worldwide are beginning Maseches Bechoros today, having wrapped up Maseches Chullin yesterday. The learners of Daf Yomi are making their way ever closer to the next Siyum Hashas, which will take place, iy”H, on August 1, 2012, just a few days after Tisha B’Av.

With 2,711 pages in the Gemara, one cycle of Daf Yomi takes about 7 years, 5 months.

Daf Yomi started its current, 12th cycle on March 2, 2005.

Maseches Bechoros is the fourth mesechta in Seder Kodshim.

As first reported here on Matzav.com, several weeks ago, askanim and community leaders gathered at MetLife Stadium in Rutherford, New Jersey, to sign the contract for the 12th Siyum Hashas of Daf Yomi to be held at the stadium on Wednesday, 13 Av, 5772/August 1, 2012, this summer. The contract was signed by representatives of Agudas Yisroel of America and MetLife stadium CEO Mark Lamping.

With 92,000 seats, the recently constructed stadium is by far the largest single venue ever to host the national Torah gathering.

The chairman of the Siyum Hashas will be Mr. Elly Kleinman.

Agudath Israel executive vice president for finance and administration Rabbi Shlomo Gertzulin, together with a committee of dedicated baalei batim, is overseeing the Siyum preparations

  1. I bet that many people reading this can get on board the Daf Yomi train still today, and can come to the Siyum with a years worth of Daf Yomi Accomplishment.

    A. B.

  2. Attention Alleh “Worried” Menshin!
They booked an alternative “rain-date” too! Let’s make it the biggest attended gathering in the place! To date, their largest crowd was 83,000+. If we Yidden could bring in 92,000 people for K’vod Shomayim, the Kiddush HaShem will be absolutely amazing!
