Mayor Bill de Blasio said he may drop out of the 2020 presidential race if he fails to qualify for October’s Democratic debate.

“I’m going to go and try to get into the October debates, and if I can, I think that’s a good reason to keep going forward. And if I can’t, I think it’s really tough to conceive of continuing,” de Blasio told reporters Wednesday. “That’s the way I’m looking at it right now.”

Candidates have until Oct. 1 to qualify for the October debate.

  1. What he should do is hang around, not drop out, even if he can’t currently make tue debate stage. Eventually the others will drop out and then he should come public again. That’s what he did in his initial Mayoral race when there were 800 Democrat’s running. He waited till the end then got the media to threaten Bill Thompson to drop out, and what do you know, he became Mayor.
