As Bayit Yehudi leader Naftoli Bennett works on a plan to bring up to 200,000 more French immigrants to Israel, Degel Hatorah has established a special committee for the spiritual needs of the newcomers and existing French communities in Ashdod, Ra’anana, Herzliya, Tel Aviv and Yerushalayim.
The committee is comprised of five leading talmidei chachomim familiar with the French Jews and their needs.
European rabbonim recently warned that moving to Israel is a spiritual downgrade for many French Jews and that immigration should cease until this was emended. Jewish schools in France provide a better Torah education than the public schools in Israel.
