Democratic leaders voiced strong opposition to President Trump’s proposal for the United States to take control of Gaza, describing the plan as an act of “ethnic cleansing.”
Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-Mich.) took to the social media platform X, where she condemned Trump’s stance. “He is openly calling for ethnic cleansing while sitting next to a genocidal war criminal,” Tlaib wrote, alluding to Trump’s recent meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
Tlaib further criticized Trump for his policies. “He’s perfectly fine cutting off working Americans from federal funds while the funding to the Israeli government continues flowing,” she stated, responding to a post that highlighted the meeting between the two leaders on Tuesday.
Trump’s suggestion that the U.S. should manage the Gaza Strip includes a plan for Americans to take responsibility for restoring and rebuilding the battered area. This statement marks one of his most radical remarks on the issue to date, as nearly 2 million Palestinians in Gaza continue their aspirations for statehood. Although Trump mentioned a vision for developing the territory, he provided no specifics about who would reside there.
In another post, Tlaib reaffirmed the resilience of the Palestinian people. “Palestinians aren’t going anywhere,” she declared. She went on to accuse both political parties in Congress of enabling Trump’s rhetoric. “This president can only spew this fanatical bulls because of bipartisan support in Congress for funding genocide and ethnic cleansing. It’s time for my two-state solution colleagues to speak up,” she wrote.
Sen. Chris Van Hollen (D-Md.) also denounced Trump’s proposal, warning that it could escalate tensions in the already fragile Middle East. He pointed out that regional leaders had convened to discuss the matter and rejected the idea of U.S. control over Gaza. “He just said that it will be U.S. policy to forcibly displace 2 million Palestinians from the Gaza Strip,” Van Hollen explained on MSNBC. “That is ethnic cleansing by another name.”
Sen. Chris Murphy (D-Conn.) offered a similarly blunt critique, arguing that Trump’s mindset is completely detached from reality. “A U.S. invasion of Gaza would lead to the slaughter of thousands of U.S. troops and decades of war in the Middle East,” Murphy said on X. “It’s like a bad, sick joke.”
Murphy also sought to refocus public discourse, suggesting that Trump’s statements were intended to divert attention from domestic issues. “The media and the chattering class will focus on it for a few days, and Trump will have succeeded in distracting everyone from the real story – the billionaires seizing government to steal from regular people,” Murphy wrote.
Sen. Ruben Gallego (D-Ariz.) weighed in as well, branding Trump a “warmonger.” “Trump wants to invade Panama, Greenland, and now Gaza,” Gallego remarked, adding to the chorus of criticism.

Unlike Sleazy Joe Bribem, who funded and instigated war and death, President Trump wants to END a war and bring a solution for BOTH sides that will let them live.
Of course, hamaSS and their DEMOCRAT supporters are horrified by the very idea that “palestinians” will not be allowed to endlessly murder Jews and never allow for either side to resolve this problem.
Trump’s idea is sheer brilliance. It will turn Gaza into a world class resort, and as it will be OWNED by America, it will bring in revenue for US and stabilize the entire middle east.
