Former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin has filed an intent to appeal with the Minnesota state appellate court in his murder conviction for the death of George Floyd.

A jury found Chauvin, who is white, guilty in April of unintentional second-degree murder, third-degree murder and second-degree manslaughter in the death of Floyd, a Black man. The verdict was widely seen as a landmark rebuke of the disproportionate use of police force against Black Americans.

The video of Chauvin kneeling on the neck of the handcuffed Floyd for more than eight minutes during the arrest caused outrage around the world and the largest protest movement seen in the United States in decades.

Chauvin was jailed for 22-1/2 years in June.

In documents filed on Thursday and seen by Reuters, Chauvin raised 14 issues about his prosecution, including the court’s denial of a request for a change of venue, that he believed supported his request for an appeal.

    • MORE FAKE NEWS MEDIA. Floyd died in 2016 in Corpus Christi hospital. The entire episode and arrest were preplanned and staged.

  1. including the court’s denial of a request for a change of venue Bunch of tripe, and nothing more than that.
If this case is reopened, hopefully a smarter judge shall sentence chauvin to life in prison without parole or to death penalty hopefully to be administered by a foot in his neck for 8 minutes 46 seconds.

  2. Comment # 1, I can’t stop laughing! Fantastic!

The guy had a rap sheet as long as the galut and he’s considered the victim and the officer is a villain.
