Shas chief Aryeh Deri walked out of coalition talks with Likud’s Bibi Netanyahu and Religious Zionism head Bezalel Smotrich on Monday, Times of Israel reports. Deri was said to demand that the interior and health ministries, which his party is set to lead in the next government, be exempt from oversight by the Finance Ministry’s budgetary department.

Smotrich, set to become finance minister, vehemently opposed the idea, the report said, saying that the budgetary department has itself vetoed the proposal. Deri, in turn, said failure to exempt his ministries would be a violation of an agreement previously reached with Netanyahu.

The incident was the second time in a week that Deri has reportedly argued with Netanyahu during negotiations.

  1. Looks like it’s not an easy done deal. Will he have to request the additional 14 days? Can’t we Chareidim agree for the betterment of the overall picture? What’s with us? The left is laughing hysterically and we’ve become their laughing stock.

  2. Hope the entire Knesset will be destroyed for good for their crimes of murder they’ve committed to their own citizens via the quacksine.

  3. For the ones who don’t understand the intentions behind: Finance Ministry is the most powerful position, as you can control every portfolio by denying funds.

Smotrich is being a smarty-pants, and Deri is not falling for it. He gave them enough.

    • Gelt über alles even if it means chillul Shabbos bigly, opening pork stores or vaksinating as entire population in order to get money.
