Matzav.com first reported on the drama that unfolded last week in the Geulah neighborhood of Yerushalayim as dozens of people scoured the contents of a fully loaded garbage truck in search of a small diamond ring.

The search began on Thursday after a kallah accidentally threw her engagement ring, said to be worth $9,300, into a garbage can.

The family had addressed the general public and asked them to search for the ring.

Well, we have some good news.

Today, at about 3 p.m., the kallah’s family got a call informing them that the ring had been found.

It appears that the ring was found before the frantic search was made public, and the finder had no idea who it might belong to. After later speaking to his friend, he was informed of the search and who the owner of the ring is. The finer immediately asked his friend to contact the family and let them know that the ring had been dound.

In addition, during the period of the search, a local jeweler quietly approached the kallah’s family and offered to replace the lost ring with some sort of alternative ring as a gift in order to reduce the aggravation of the kallah.

The kallah will be getting married in a month.

  1. sorry, but I think $9300 for an engagement ring is outrageous!with so much need in the frum community in Israel ,the money is much better spent to help struggling Torah families or for a down payment on an apt. We don’t need this American style excessive gashmius in Eretz Yisrael.
