Rav Zvadya Cohen of the Tel Aviv Beis Din recently ruled that a divorced woman could marry a kohen after it turned out that her former marriage was invalid.

Rav Yisroel Meir Riani of the B’noam Danielle organization, which helps disadvantaged people access government religious services in Israel, had investigated the first marriage and found that it was invalid due to the use of two witnesses who were close relatives.

Rav Cohen, an expert in matters of yuchsin, told the couple they were very fortunate, as he had never before come across a marriage invalidated by this factor.
