Maran Rav Aharon Leib Shteinman’s physician, Dr. Avrohom Weinberg, reports Monday that the rosh yeshiva is stable and doing well after feeling unwell and suffering from fever and weakness in recent days.

The senior rosh yeshiva of Yeshiva Orchos Torah and Yeshiva Gaon Yaakov in Bnei Brak was taken yesterday to Mayanei Hayeshua Medical Center, where he has undergone a battery of tests. He remains under the close watch of a team of physicians led by Dr. Weinberg.

Medical examinations were performed due to fears of pneumonia, and the rosh yeshiva was started on a regimen of antibiotic treatment.

Rav Shteinman davened Shacharis this morning kevosikin in his room at Maayanei Hayeshuah.

Rav Shteinman is in the Intensive Care Unit because, Dr. Weinberg explained, the centenarian gadol can receive more comprehensive treatment there; the ICU location is not reflective of his health status, he explained.

It has not yet been decided when Rav Shteinman will be released to his home. There is a chance that he could return home by tonight, according to Dr. Moti Ravid, hospital medical director. Ravid said that Rav Steinman’s improvement is “significant,” adding that “the rav is already sitting up in an armchair in his room.”

All are asked to continue davening for Rav Aharon Yehudah Leib ben Gittel Faiga.
