Barron Trump, son of Donald and Melania Trump and the former first son, towered over officials at his South Florida high school Friday morning while he picked up his diploma, with both his parents proudly looking on from the bleachers.
Former President Trump, looked every bit the proud papa — grinning alongside wife Melania at the graduation ceremony for Oxbridge Academy in West Palm Beach, Florida.
Trump was permitted to attend the ceremony by Manhattan Criminal Court Judge Juan Merchan. The judge called off the day’s planned court proceedings in the “hush money” trial of the former president.
Later on Friday, Trump was scheduled to fly to Minnesota to be the headline speaker at the state GOP’s Lincoln-Reagan dinner.
Very little information is known about the details of Barron’s time at Oxbridge Academy. The school charges $41,500 per year for tuition, and Barron has spent three years at the school.
Barron Trump previously attended Columbia Grammar and Preparatory School in New York City before transferring to St. Andrew’s Episcopal School in Potomac, Maryland, during his father’s presidency.
Throughout his youth, Barron has mostly stayed out of the public eye, splitting his time between New York and Florida and rarely making public statements.
Melania Trump, dressed in a blue suit jacket, white skirt, and straw hat, has played a central role in raising Barron and prefers to keep him close.
Last week, the former first lady dismissed the idea of Barron serving as a Florida delegate to the Republican National Convention to formally nominate his father, citing the 18-year-old’s “prior commitments.”
While Barron has now graduated high school, it is yet to be revealed what his college plans are. The former president did say that his son’s college choices have been affected by recent anti-Israel protests and other campus unrest.
“He’s a good guy. He’s a senior now in high school, and he’ll be going to college. And you know, a lot of, a lot of these choices of colleges are changing because you see what’s going on in the last month,” said Trumpon the “Kayal and Company” Philadelphia 1210 WPHT Talk Radio show.
Trump also revealed Barron has a liking for politics and sometimes even gives suggestions to his dad.
“He’s a little on the tall side. I will tell you, he’s a tall one, but he is a good-looking guy. And he’s really been a great student. And he does like politics. It’s sort of funny,” Trump said.
“He’ll tell me sometimes, ‘Dad, this is what you have to do.’”
