A new book alleges Indian donations to Clinton enterprises influenced Hillary Clinton’s stance on a 2008 nuclear agreement between the U.S. and India, Politico reports. Peter Schweizer’s book, Clinton Cash, claims that then-Senator Clinton reversed her position on lifting restrictions of exporting U.S. nuclear technology to India after lobbying and donations from hotelier Sant Chatwal, who paid Bill Clinton $450,000 to speak in London.

“Even my close friend Hillary Clinton was not in favor of the deal [in 2006]… But when I put the whole package together, she also came on board,” Chatwal said. “In politics, nothing comes free. You have to write cheques in the American political system.”

Chatwal was sentenced to three years’ probation in December for campaign-finance violations.

Clinton’s camp denied the claim, calling the book a conspiracy theory. Read more at Politico.
