Double Miracle in Ludmir

Many visit the tziyun of Rav Shlomo of Karlin in Ludmir, Ukraine, where the tzaddik was interred after dying al kiddush Hashem in 1792.

Rabbi Pinchos Shefer of Israel bought a house at the old beis kevaros where Rav Shlomo is buried and planned to get municipal licensing to convert it into a hachnosas orchim. But antisemites interfered with his plan under the slogan, “Do not let the Jews come back.”

Shefer had almost given up hope when he heard that a local hotel was for sale. This needed no licensing and the plot against his plan was thwarted.

At the time, Russia was on the verge of invading Ukraine. Many suggested that Shefer delay buying the hotel until after an invasion, when its value would certainly drop. Shefer ignored them.

Five months into the war, Ludmir, a city only seven miles from the western border with Poland, is regarded as one of the safest locations in Ukraine and the hotel is in huge demand.

“Had I waited to buy, it is very doubtful whether they would be willing to sell me the building now, and even if they did, the price would be much higher,” Shefer said.

  1. “Do not let the Jews come back.”

The Ukrainians are barbaric murderous thugs. They haven’t changed their inborn hatred for Jews. The Ukrainians shouldn’t get a single penny of hard working Americans taxpayer money!
