Dozens of graves at a Jewish cemetery in Massachusetts have reportedly been vandalized with anti-Semitic messages such as “Hitler was right,” and “Oy vey! This is MAGA country.”
Police have opened a hate-crime investigation after they are said to have found swastikas and anti-Semitic graffiti scrawled on the graves in black marker pen at the Fall River cemetery. Some of the headstones had also been pushed over. It’s believed the incident occurred sometime on March 16 or early March 17. The Anti-Defamation League of New England condemned the crime, saying: “The desecration of the Hebrew Cemetery of Fall River is an inexcusable act of anti-Semitic hatred in the place where we honor and remember the lives of our community members.”
Louis Gitlan, who has relatives buried at the cemetery, said many of those buried at the Fall River cemetery faced persecution during their lives. He told the Fall River Herald News: “What did they go through to get to this place, and finally be free? Then realize that they can’t escape it.” Read more at USA Today.
