Nearly two dozen staffers are being treated for low oxygen levels at Oorah’s The Zone, after a carbon monoxide leak early this morning.
The leak occurred at the Cedar Lodge, which mostly houses staff members, at approximately 7 AM, when numerous staffers woke up feeling unwell.
Emergency personnel were quickly dispatched to the scene, where they provided oxygen to the affected individuals. Some were transported to a local hospital for further treatment and monitoring.
All are expected to be OK.
Oorah released the following statement:
One building that housed some of our staff and college aged program members had a carbon monoxide leak. Emergency services responded quickly; those affected are being taken care of and should all be okay.
Safety is of course our top priority and we are taking this incident seriously. We are working with the appropriate personnel to resolve the issue that caused the leak and conducting inspections to ensure there is no further risk in this building or elsewhere on our grounds.
