It is with great sadness that Matzav.com reports the petirah of Dr. Vladimir (Zev) Zelenko z”l. He was 49 and passed away after a battle with cancer.

Dr. Zelenko was a devoted doctor who was known for promoting a three-drug combination of hydroxychloroquine, zinc sulfate, and azithromycin as part of an experimental outpatient treatment for COVID-19 that he promoted as the Zelenko Protocol.

On March 23, 2020, Zelenko published an open letter to President Donald Trump where he explained that he have successfully treated hundreds of his COVID-19 patients with a five-day course of his Protocol. Zelenko’s treatment protocol quickly gained notoriety with several media figures and various Trump administration officials promoting it, including Rudy Giuliani and White House chief of staff Mark Meadows.

Zelenko was born in Kyiv, then part of Soviet Ukraine, in 1973. His family moved to the US when he was three years old, and settled in Sheepshead Bay neighborhood in Brooklyn, New York.

Zelenko attended medical school at the State University of New York at Buffalo, earning a Doctor of Medicine degree in 2000.

Zelenko was a longtime community physician in the Satmar community in Kiryas Yoel, New York.

Zelenko published an autobiography, Metamorphosis, in which he explores how he was originally an irreligious Jewish Russian-American young man who become a baal teshuvah and in turn created close ties with many diverse Jewish communities, and how circumstances in his life provided him with the willpower to overcome the challenges he was handed, including a life-threatening disease.

Zelenko lectured many time about his personal story and the book he wrote about it.

In 2019, Zelenko co-authored with one of his sons, Levi Yitzchok Zelenko, a book about Kabbalah called Essence To Essence which “describes the metaphysical dynamics shared by science, medicine, psychology, economics, law, and politics.”

Zelenko is survived by his wife and eight children.

Yehi zichro boruch.

  1. He had tremendous siyata d’shmaya as far as treating China virus as well as preventing it. So much so, that all the other allegedly “frum” doctors hated him because of it. I’m sure everyone remembers comments by doctors about how zelenko was a fraud etc. Bottom line is HE had the siyata d’shmaya and they didn’t. They should all be embarrassed for the way they behaved!

חזל say טוב שברופאים לגיהנם but I have no doubt that even though he was tov, He’s not going to that place. The other doctors are for their attitude and jealousy.

  2. Why no BD”E??
And why no Zatzal? I know quite a few pple who were healed by his cocktail. Also, he made a huge kiddush hashem !!!

  3. Rest In Peace Dr Zelenko
You leave behind a shining legacy of courage, perseverance and Kiddush Hashem.
    יהי זכרו ברוך

  4. Beloved doctor of the people. You will be missed by everyone you inspired. One of the few honest doctors that graced us with his knowledge during the pandemic.

  6. What sad news. I prayed for him so much. He saved so many people’s lives by trying to stop them from suiciding themselves via the jab weapons.

  7. I knew Zev ftom Buffalo from SUNY. He loved all Jews so much so much that his first job was in Monroe with Satmar. Generally not Chabad lovers and not only that . He wore a huge , Yechi yarmulka while Davening in Satmar shul. Crazy as heck and they loved him cause he loved them and healed them. This man was special from his youth. It was in part the reason why Monroe threw him out as he was very successful treating people when he went on his own and the former clinic started to lose money. That was the beginning of the end and they caused him endless trouble to push him out . Coovid came and he stood against the world cause no one was dying there on his watch . Many hated him cause of the pachad that the world was afraid of. I think not one of his patients died from Coovid. This tzaddik saved hundreds if not thousands of lives. He was not about money, power or fame. Just healing and helping. I am shocked and saddened terribly to hear of the loss of Zev. There are many in Buffalo that knew and loved him a lot as that’s where he went to medical school. Also large Lubavitch community there that he was part of. The world is a darker place without this fine and righteous Jew. He was extremely bright and anyone who heard him talk on the Web during Coovid could clearly see he was gifted. He had Siyata Dshmya to come up with a protocol that saved so many and was used all over the world. Zev is lease Daven for KY and your family for the Geula Shleima. Hashem should bring him straight to GanEden.

  8. He saved the whole world.
It is written that one who saved one life it is as if he saved the entire world.
May his soul rest in Gan Eden with all the other righteous souls.
    We will miss him dearly.
    BDE.

  9. So nice to read all the positive comments here; I sometimes warn myself before reading about a person especially one that is so special. That there will be some cold blood here or there unfortunately and I shouldnt allow it to get to me. I guess his emes promotes emes. He truly was one of a kind; tremendous loss. May hkb”h speed up the coming of moshiach; hopefully with all of these special people that have recently left this world and continue to so rapidly they will band together and beseech the heavens to bring moshiach asap.

  10. Baruch Dayan HaEmes. Thank you for making a nice post and to those who made beautiful comments. This is such a loss for Klal Yisrael and the world both in terms of medicine and making a tremendous Kiddush Hashem. We will miss you Dr. Zelenko and will try our best to carry out your legacy in so many ways, as that was your final request.
