A driver in Michigan was clocked barreling down a highway at 180 mph – more than double the posted speed limit, state police said.

The speed demon in a black 2016 Dodge Challenger was nabbed in the 70 mph zone on I-75 in Monroe County just before midnight on April 19, Michigan State Police Lt. Brian Oleksyk told The Post.

As some drivers in the state are taking advantage of near-empty roadways due to ongoing stay-at-home orders, troopers have noticed an uptick in speeding, Oleksyk told WJBK.

  1. Wooooooow. 180mph?! I gotta get a car like that. Challanger is not known to be a comfortable ride but nu nu. The whole car must of been vibrating at that speed. The fastest I’ve ever driven was 120mph in a Mustang on my way to Key West from Miami, back in the 80’s (good old days when I was single. Sigh).

    • You must have been smoking something too and misread your speedometer, Miami to Key West is a narrow two lane road that goes into every business district, you want speed? try Utah, Texas Montana, I hit 3 digits in all of the above.
Interesting the car crashed went down even if the speeding went up.

      • Hey chuchum. I wasn’t driving 120mph the entire time. It was mostly near the Everglades where the road is empty. And yes, I hit 120 going over the “7 mile bridge”. Roof down. Rock & roll music blaring. The 80’s had really good music. Fun times…, or so I thought. I’ll probably burn for some of the things that were done in my youth before I frummed out in Israel. Nu nu. B”H my kids aren’t viewing these comments.
P.S. On our way back, my friend was driving, hit the max, and we got pulled over. B”H he got a warning only. The officer checked our trunk. He was more concerned that we might have took with us illegally, some coral from the beautiful reefs down there. We didn’t. It was Friday and we had to get back to Miami in time for Shabbos. Great memories.

  2. Hmmm… 95 mph in a brand new VW Super Beetle on the autobahn back in 1972. The car was shaking like a leaf, and every car on the road was passing us like we were standing still! What a joke!

  3. I did 130 “mph” (not kilometres) in Germany on the passing lane, the 2 cars behind me a BMW & a MERC. Were flashing their high beams at me to move off, they overtook me with a blink of an eye,
Some highways in Germany have no speed limits
